Sunday Morning | August 20, 2023 | John C. Majors | Louisville, KY

On August 20, 2023, during the 85th anniversary celebration, the sermon revolved around the theme "Use It or Lose It." The central biblical principle was that not actively remembering leads to forgetting. The focus was on how God blessed the church, through the stories of four key individuals. Lula Tyree initiated the idea of a Sunday School, which grew into a thriving church. Maurice "Rosie" Roberts contributed his generosity, providing land and support for the church's growth. Gene Cook's dedicated service as a humble and passionate leader, especially in investing in the next generation, left a lasting legacy. Finally, Larry and Sharlett Peercy's unwavering commitment and service, particularly during a challenging period of decline, inspired others to rebuild and serve. The sermon encouraged walking by faith, being generous, investing in the next generation, and serving, as these qualities propel the church forward into the future with growth and community-building. The reopening of the Fellowship Hall was seen as a testament to these values and a call to continue the church's mission of service and outreach.
