On this episode of Vaccine 411… Could the FDA delay a potential COVID-19 vaccine?

First, the latest vaccine news from around the world: 

United States and Germany: US based Pfizer and German based BioNTech published data this week that Phase I trials of their vaccine candidate have proven safe and produce a higher immune response in subjects than patients that have recovered from the virus. Pending approval, they will move to Phase III with 30,000 subjects by the end of July. 

Also in the U.S., Pennsylvania based Inovio, reported their vaccine is safe and they have seen immune responses. They plan to move to Phase II/III trials by August

Japan: Agnes Inc, began the first human trials for a vaccine candidate in Japan. The DNA vaccine will be tested on 30 healthy adults, they will review the data in two months. 

India: Bharat Biotech’s vaccine candidate Covaxin has been cleared for Phase I human trials. This is the first candidate developed in India.
