A gas station on Pittsburgh’s North Side where police say two female customers were assaulted by the owners Friday evening was closed Saturday and protesters urged customers not to shop there.

About 50 people protested peacefully in front of the Exxon station at 2501 Brighton Road and at another station with the same owners in Ross, which also wasn’t open Saturday.
Pittsburgh Police are recommending criminal charges against the owners and an employee, whose names haven't been released, after Friday’s violent confrontation. A relative identified the women who were assaulted as sisters Jamila and Ashia Regan of the North Side but said they didn’t want to talk about the incident Saturday afternoon.
Police said they responded to a report of a fight at the Exxon station at 2501 Brighton Road about 6:45 p.m. Friday between the male owners of the station and two female customers. The incident apparently started when gasoline spilled on the ground and the customers wanted a refund, which the owners refused to give.
