For the past three years, a master con artist has lured a long and growing list of entertainment industry professionals to Indonesia and scammed them out of tens of thousands of dollars by posing as powerful female Hollywood producers pretending to be setting up big-budget film projects. From extracting money to holding blackmail material to even baiting a male victim into phone sex, there seemed no limit to what this person was willing - and able - to do. It’s a story that involves a brilliant sociopath, powerful producers who have had their identities stolen, and a dogged female private investigator who’s chased their online shadow for years (often from her NJ home after her kids are in bed). In this series, two journalists and hosts, Josh Dean and Vanessa Grigoriadis go deep into the most devious and outrageous scam in Hollywood history—one that’s fooled trainers, make-up artists, and security guards, and also dragged in some of the most powerful women in entertainment. The story is a bit of the man hunt—listeners are following along, participating in hunting this guy and hopefully at the end find of the show, an arrest has been made and listeners find out who it is.
