Welcome to the Belonging and Leadership podcast with Audrey. Today Audrey will be discussing the importance of cultural representation within your home with Sunyoung "Sunny" Hong. Originally trained in architecture, Sunny is a design-driven problem solver who is addressing the lack of representation of mixed-race people in America through an offering of home and lifestyle products that highlight people’s multicultural heritage. As a founder of Portmanteau Home, she combines her design experiences across industries ranging from graphic design, hospitality design to resort planning, to advocate for creating homes that are more than just beautiful; a home should be a space that reflects one’s history and heritage. Sunny hopes to bring the idea of modern multicultural home decor into the mainstream and provide visual affirmations to the complex cultural identities of mixed-race individuals. Sunny studied psychology at Yale University and holds a Master of Architecture from GSD, Harvard University.
