I invite guests to share personal stories about acts of leadership that help shape their lives. In Episode 93, Ty Bennett explains something a mentor said that affected his outlook on his business and life. He then shares a fantastic story of leadership involving his son and a refrigerator. Next, Ty advises us on how we can lead more effectively.

Prologue

I’ve known Ty for about four years and have watched his Monday Morning Mantra video series frequently. Ty is one of the most popular keynote speakers I know, and he has authored a few books as well. Not only does he frequently speak to organizations, but he also speaks Portuguese and is the father of five children.

01:14 Part 1: Unintended Self-Infliction

Ty shares a story from his days when he and his brother ran a direct sales business. He explains something that a mentor once said to him. What he heard affected his attitude towards his business and all aspects of his life.

06:19 Part 2: Motivators and Inhibitors

The story that Ty shares is the first story that I heard from Ty. It shares a crucial perspective about leadership and distinguishes two approaches to handling a challenge with a young son.

12:04 Part 3: One Behavior Required to Lead Effectively

Ty advises us on how we can lead more effectively. He explains one of the leadership principles related to learning.
