Karen Shannon could be in the running for one of the kindest people on earth. 

But you don't get to be that way without often going through some sort of adversity, and coming out the other end with perspective.  

I was not ready to hear the intensity of, and was rather surprised by the stories of Karen's life to date.  How she got to Jefferson from her Mt Ayr hometown, how she returned to Jefferson from a time in North Carolina, how she persevered through unfruitful past relationships, and how she didn't retaliate in kind when a warring sibling hit her in the face with handful of manure, all resembles a miraculous path.  

And Jefferson should be thankful she has landed here, because her spirit of volunteerism and the projects she has been involved have measurably enhanced the local community, and will indeed continue to do so.
