The Covid-19 pandemic continued to affect lives across Asia this week. In Hong Kong, police arrested 200 pro-democracy protesters following clashes. Chinese officials are also accused of imposing severe restrictions on the funeral of 98-year-old Bishop Joseph Zhu Baoyu of Nanyang restricting the movement of people and banning parishioners from taking photographs of the service. In Myanmar, a controversial Christian pastor faces up to three years in prison after his release from a 21-day quarantine in Yangon. Also the military in conflict-ridden Myanmar has announced a unilateral ceasefire to allow the nation to fight Covid-19. Sorsogon diocese in the Philippines delivered two tons of fish to a national shrine in Manila to feed the homeless and health workers as part of a food assistance program called Fish for Every Table. In Indonesia, 40-year-old American pilot Joyce Chaisin Lin died on May 12 after an airplane operated by a Christian charity group crashed. Pakistan reported another violent incident against Christians while in India, the plight of migrants and the poor continues to be grim as the Covid-19 lockdown continues as thousands of migrant laborers are walking thousands of kilometers to their village homes after losing their jobs in cities.
