Today in the Acts of the Apostles we hear about the resolution where Paul and Barnabas go to Jerusalem and they have it out with Peter in the other apostles. And then they come up together with minimal conditions upon which anyone - Jew or Gentile - can become a member of the church, be baptized in Jesus Christ and share at the table of the Eucharist.  This is a big message from the early days of the life of the church. It is what was resolved at the Council of Jerusalem. It can only happen if the attitude and disposition and spirituality of John's gospel is taken into account.
