Every week, UCA News Podcath invites experts to discuss issues relevant to Asian communities.

This week we discuss on the communist regime in China embarking upon a new form of repression by removing crosses from church buildings.

Joining us today is Benedict Rogers, an internationally known rights activist and East Asia team leader of the international human rights organization - Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW). The rights group, based in London, works for freedom of religion of people across the world. An expert on the situation of religious and democratic freedom in China and Hong Kong, Rogers has been campaigning against communist violations of basic human rights.

In this conversation with Christopher Joseph of UCA News, Rogers specifically focuses on the issue of cross removals in China as a form of rights violations. He explains how the cross removals are part of a process to establish the communist ideology. And, yet there has been very little criticism from global Christian leaders against it because they are trying to compromise with Chinese communist regime. But this has only increased violence against Christians, he says.

Global organizations should prioritize speaking out for people in China. Considering China’s role in the world, global leaders should stand up against Chinese repression.
