UAB Medicine’s Red Mountain Home Dialysis Training Unit is taking a major step into telemedicine, thanks to a recent grant that will allow its peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients living outside Jefferson County to eliminate some of their trips to Birmingham for monthly checkups.

Eric Wallace, MD discusses telemedicine in nephrology. He shares what the barriers to starting a telemedicine program were, what UAB is currently doing and planning on doing and how telemedicine is transforming healthcare for the better.
