This week on U Look Hungry, host Helen Hollyman is in New Olreans with Ashley Hansen of Hansen’s Sno Bliz! Started in 1939 by Ashley’s grandparents, Ernest and Mary Hansen, Hansen’s Sno-Bliz specializes in shaved ice, offering a variety of flavors that are sure to please everyone. These unique flavors include cream of almond, blueberry, coconut, cardamom, nectar, and ginger, and also the favorites – banana, orange, pineapple, chocolate, strawberry, and more. Decades later, Hansen’s still makes its own flavors every day, from Mary’s secret recipes, and creates snoballs from the original machine. Tune-in to learn more about the history behind the world famous Sno-Bliz, and learn which secret flavors to order when at the store. The combination of fluffy ice and homemade syrups demand that each Sno-Bliz be made in layers – ice, syrup, ice, syrup, and so forth.
