032: From Kidpreneur to CEO with Kareem Hankins of KJ's Street Treats

Hosts Tracy Swain and JaVonne Williams are joined by Kareem Hankins founder of KJ's Street Treats. Mr. Hankins was born and raised in a small family-oriented town known as Harlem FL. It’s located about 85 miles North of Miami. He and his wife Nicole Hankins are the owners of KJ’S Street Treats a catering service and Food Truck that’s up and coming in the Atlanta, Ga area. In today's epsiode, Kareem shares his journey as an entrepreneur across several business platforms and how working for other entrepreneurs fueled his desire to launch his mobile catering / truck business.

Kareem has always had the go getter entrepreneur spirit about himself. At the at the age of 11 he had his own Disc Jockeying business (BSP DJ’S) all throughout grade school and some college. Shortly after college he pursued a career in corrections.  While working in corrections he also ran his own mobile detailing service for about five years until he decided to focus more on his passion for cooking and preparing food which started out with K’S Cut Up Fruits encompassing varieties of fruits and dressing them up with different seasonings.  You could catch him posted on the corner of Harlem Academy Avenue, Harlem, FL.

In 2013 Kareem and his wife moved to Atlanta where he took a security job at The Tyler Perry Studios and worked part time with GOGO Party Bus. Working for both companies gave him the drive & motivation to focus on his own business just seeing the owners of those companies working hard and their hard work paying off.

Kareem has always liked trying new recipes creating his own twists, and hearing people say you should sell this after tasting it. He and his wife Nicole have been catering events since 2014 and recently finished building their food truck where they prepare some of the best seafood, wings and more.
