02. The Connection Between Literature in the Past And Present

Do you know what were those literary masters thinking about 200 years ago? 

Panning the current affairs? Debating some philosophical questions? Embellishing the writing with beautiful rhetoric? None of these! (Alright…some of them are…… Despite being literary masters, they love those corny movies like Twilight as much as we normal people. However, the vampire from 200 years ago are not as handsome as Edward. Besides, there weren’t fluffy and devoted werewolves like Jacob. 

Without these entertainment, the lives are being too peaceful for them and almost draws them into panic. Literary masters start to think of dark stories about vampire.  However, themes about vampire only can’t satisfy them, they also write about incest, murder, and necrophilia……and which turn out to be so-called “Gothic Literature”.

針砭時事？哲學思辨？堆砌辭藻？

都！不！是！（好啦 也是有啦……

雖說是文學大神 但他們跟普通人一樣喜歡看狗血的暮光之城

雖然兩百年前的吸血鬼不像愛德華那麼帥 也沒有毛茸茸又專情的狼人

但在沒有Spotify也沒有Youtube的年代

閒到發慌的時候 大佬們只好開始胡思亂想 

而且除了吸血鬼之外 他們還嫌不夠刺激 什麼亂倫、謀殺、戀屍癖最好也都給我來一點

……最後就不小心變成了文學家所說的「歌德式文學」
