Featured in TIR Episode 290 (Part 3 of 3): Longtime Lakeside multi-instrumentalist, singer and composer Otis Stokes. He played a central role throughout the funk and soul band’s 1977-1990 recording career that produced nine Top 40 R&B albums, four of them reaching the Top 10.

Lakeside’s hits and notable songs during that period include “It’s All the Way Live,” “Pull My Strings,” “From 9:00 Until,” the No. 1 smash “Fantastic Voyage,” “Your Love Is on the One,” the Beatles remake “I Want to Hold Your Hand,” “Something About That Woman,” “Raid,” “Turn the Music Up” and “Outrageous.” All but one of those are blistering funk jams.

Stokes also worked extensively with other Solar Records acts and released a self-titled solo album in 1994.
