A founding member of P-Funk offshoot the Brides of Funkenstein, in 2000 she released her acclaimed solo album, All My Funky Friends, and later showed off her range performing with the Platters. 

Since 2022, she has been riding the high and success of her autobiography, aptly titled “The Funk Queen.” Just like its central character, it’s an amazing, one-of-a-kind book in both content and format that spans her fascinating family heritage through decades of funk’s most vital works, all brought to vivid life through a massive, hardcover edition featuring hundreds of often astounding photographs.
