My name is Russell McDonald and my company’s name is TRADMOR.  TRADMOR stands for Trusted Advisor Mortgages and I chose this name for my company because my focus in mortgage lending is working with CPAs, Enrolled Agents, Financial Planners and any other Trusted Advisor Financial Professionals to help them provide home loans for their clients.  I’ve been a mortgage broker in the San Francisco Bay Area since 1992 and also founded a software company in 1994 which is still up and running.

I have invented several different software systems that have been brought to market with varying levels of success over the years. My two most productive projects are called Cypher and RateAnalyzer and these systems have been used by more than 500 different independent financial professionals to provide thousands of home loans for their clients over the past 20 years or so.  

In 1998 I applied for several patents for these and other systems, as well as seeking patent protection for the ways we anticipated the technology progressing down the road. I actually applied for patents covering online mortgage loan application systems before the first online mortgage application was done in the United States.  I wrote all the original Provisional Patent Applications myself and started seeking competent legal help a little less than a year later. Since that time I’ve been awarded six patents for the systems and methods I invented and to be honest it is a miracle that I was able to write the Provisional Patent Applications on my own (using a NOLO PRESS book) that were able to turn into something useful.  I would never advise an independent inventor to take on that task on their own. 

You know the common belief that practicing something for 10,000 hours makes you an expert? I’ve been doing this all day plus nights and weekends for more than 10,000 DAYS and this has made me an expert in mortgage finance, real estate and credit issues.
