In 2001, the Chandra Levy case captured the entire nation and brought lots of unwanted attention on congressman Gary Condit, which many believed to be responsible for Chandra's disappearance. After her disappearance, her affair with Gary Condit came to light, and he became public enemy number one, even costing him re-election in 2002. As investigation continued, another suspect, an El Salvadorian immigrant Ingmar Guandique, came to light and was even taken to trial and sentenced for the crime. So case closed right? Well, the charges against Ingmar were dropped in 2015, and he was ultimately deported in 2017.
