On the evening of October 12th, 2018, Karlie Gusé called her stepmom and asked for a ride home. She admitted that she had gone to a party and smoked marijuana. Karlie had an adverse reaction to the marijuana and was paranoid and anxious all night. She left home in the early morning while her family slept and was last seen by the highway near her house in California. Karlie has not been seen since.

Karlie's stepmother has come under scrutiny regarding statements she made to the press about the events before Karlie disappeared. She also recorded a conversation with Karlie that is intriguing to amateur sleuths. But, both Karlie's dad and stepmother have been cooperative with the police. And very recently, authorities have said they are investigating a lead in Nevada which may prove to be promising.
