Today we’re chatting about a topic that I haven’t really thought of before. Is it possible to be too nice? Is it hurting people when we are?

As Christians, we always talk about love, joy, and peace, but is that what people really need? They need to know about Christ: about His love, His grace, and His compassion. But they also need to know about sin. They need to know where they’ve fallen short. They need to know that they need God, otherwise, what’s the point?

Many times, instead of talking to the culture, instead of really pouring out our hearts and sharing our flaws, sharing what’s right and what’s wrong, we just stand behind the smiley face and we try to be nice. We try to be good, and we try to offer the world what basically amounts to blandness.

I chatted about all this and more with my guest, Sharon Hodde Miller the author of the new book Nice: Why We Love to Be Liked and How God Calls Us to More.
