What they said:
Rod Brind’Amour on the close win after leading 3-0 in the first period:
“Trash it, move on. I don’t know that we’ve played maybe a worse game ever. But I give them (LA) credit. I mean, they outplayed us – start to finish. We scored on every chance we had, basically. But the game is just so hard when you’re in the box the whole game. It just had no flow and it’s a disgusting game, really. So we’re going to just trash it, move on. Thankfully, we get to play tomorrow.”
Brind’Amour on team’s defensive play:
“You know, there’s a game plan. You’ve got to follow the way you have to play. Just the sleepiness on D-zone cover, just watching D go backside when we know they can do that – just pick them up. It’s not hard – over and over and over. Those are just things that are just, you know, we don’t do. So we got away with one tonight and, you know, we’re about getting points. I mean, that’s this league. Two points are going to count the same. We won’t look back at this and go, you know, we much rather win. But that wasn’t good.”
Goaltender Frederik Andersen on Jordan Martinook’s shootout winner:
“I’ve seen him do that when he practiced on me. I think he’s more skilled than people get to give him credit for. He provides a lot of energy for us, and he can score. So that’s cool to see him finish on a nice move like that.”
