One of the best young high jumpers in Australia, Nicola McDermott uses her drive and motivation to leap over obstacles in her way. The successful Australian athlete has three times qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, and manages to study Biochemistry in her spare time.

We discuss her close relationship with long term coach, Matt Horsenll, her use of cues in training and competition to ensure high performance every time she approaches the bar, and the excitement of competing at the Olympics. Nicola also talks us through her travel preparations and tips of advice for any other athletes looking to improve their travel routine.

One of the kindest people you’ll ever meet, we’re going to be looking out for Nicola in green and gold at Tokyo in August. Be sure to follow her progress and join us in cheering her on from back here in Australia as she attempts to become the first Australian lady to jump over 2 metres!
