The Charlie Brown and Snoopy Show “The Play” (w/ Anthony and Jeremy)

What’s up, dudes? I've got Anthony Caruso from ‘Tis the Podcast and Jeremy Phelps the Alamo City Santa with me to dig into Charles Schulz’s Peanuts. That’s right! It’s the 1983 CBS Saturday morning cartoon The Charlie Brown and Snoopy Show episode “The Play!”

Charlie Brown writes about the previous Christmas for a school paper. Lucy is in charge of the school play, and she immediately decides to hold the performance at the ice rink. Linus is recruited—nay, ordered—to sing “Jingle Bells.” Sally plays an Angel, Peppermint Patty a sheep, and Marcy the Blessed Virgin Mary with glasses. Oh, and good ol’ Charlie Brown has to raise funds. Lucy will skate with Snoopy.

Chuck sells homemade wreaths door to door.  He also somehow gets blamed when his dog gets stage fright, Peppermint Patty slips on ice, and Sally forgets her lines. Linus, in fear of Lucy’s reprisals, wings the worst rendition of the popular carol ever. Oh, and Sally gets a new boyfriend. Eat your heart out, Linus! Sweet Babboo indeed!!
