Impact Wrestling: April 5th 2019 Episode - Lucha Revenge, Dodgy Champions, and Eli Drake!

Over the border and far away, IMPACT Wrestling is back in lovely Windsor, Ontario Canada for the tapings leading up to the Rebellion ppv and Kyle & Trent are back to break down the kickoff show which took place on April 5th 2019!

The buzz coming out of the weekend after this airing was the unceremonious departure of longtime favorite, Eli Drake who was released this past weekend. Details are still sketchy but we look at what could potentially be going on and why Trent thinks this is all a Brian Pillman style work!

We take a deep dive into the World Heavyweight Champion picture as Champion Johnny IMPACT not only has a target on him from Brian Cage but also his sometimes ally, Killer Kross! Has Johnny bit off more than he can chew and are his days numbered as champion?

The feud between LAX - Ortiz and Santana and The Lucha Brothers - Pentagon Jr. and Fenix reaches new highs every week and this was no different. The show went off the air with LAX through a table and the Tag Team Champion Lucha Brothers standing tall over them. The only way this will be settled is the now announced Full Metal mayhem match taking place at Rebellion on April 28th!

Tessa Blanchard and Gail Kim are a powder keg ready to explode. One generation vs. another in what will be an epic showdown. This week fueled the fire even more !

Taya Valkyrie has a new contender gunning for her championship in Jordynne Grace and she will stop at nothing to dethrone the current champion! Taya might have her husband Johnny IMPACT in her corner but it was revealed that Jordynne has Brian Cage watching her back!

Sami Callihan continues to torment Rich Swann while the X-Division title hangs in the balance between the twos personal issues! Is the championship just a pawn in this story between the two or was it Sami's plan the entire time?

Fallah Bahh has a new main squeeze and it's not KM, it's Scarlett Bordeaux! Despite his loss to Rohit Raju this week giving the Desi Hit Squad a boost, Fallah stood tall with his new valet. The booty squad is in full effect!

Eli Drake and Eddie Edwards are now #1 contenders for the Tag Team Championship but given the recent news of Eli's departure what happens to their title shot? Where do we go from here and what is the best way to salvage a situation like this when things just started firing on all cylinders? We give our thoughts!
