(Oct 1, 2019) David Casey graduated from college in 1984, and that summer he nabbed the position of hut-caretaker for the Adirondack Mountain Club. The AMC employs a lot of people in order to "conserve, preserve, and promote responsible recreational use" of state and wild land, from trail crew to summit stewards to nationalists.

David was stationed at the dorm-style John Brooks Lodge - a three and a half mile hike from Keene Valley - which is the only backcountry lodge in the Adirondacks.
