In this Part 1 of 2 episode we welcome Nicolette who shares her brave story about her terrifying slide into devastating drug addiction and her brave battle into sobriety with a devastating relapse. She is now a survivor and we are so proud of her as she just completed her full 1 year of sobriety. She intends to help young teens and women that are in similar situations, as well as parents understand the secrets, lies, manipulation and darkness of drug addiction in our high school and college students.
Nicolette shares her story of her fairy tale upbringing in a loving Italian household. She tells about bullying from mean girls in jr. high school and high school.
She started doing drugs to appear cool to a guy and we discuss the complete ignorance of parents with their children’s drug and alcohol use and addiction in rich small towns as in Coppell and Plano as examples.
Nicolette talks about her manipulative, drug addicted boyfriend that she stayed in a 7 year relationship with, despite her parents hating him.
Nicolette’s drug use started with smoking weed, drinking and then quickly escalated into opiod addiction and worse.
We discuss how people pleasers are in big danger of falling into the dangerous grasp of manipulators and abusers.
She then talks about how severe the drug epidemic is in college, yet is looked upon as recreational.
