Early in my marriage...before kids...my mother-in-law, who had run a daycare for decades, pointed out that the happiest moms were the ones who let their spouse handle things their own way.  Those moms didn't try to micromanage every part of the way their husband did things.  They didn't care if their kid was dropped off by dad with mismatching clothes or whatever.  She probably didn't know that this little nugget would have such a profound effect on me.

It not only made it easier on my marriage, but I carried that "let them do it their own way" motto into how I parent too.  In fact, I showed my daughter too early how to get her own water.  It's one less thing that I have to handle.

If you are stressed about getting things done, I advise you to figure out how to let some of the optics go and allow people to get things done in their own way.  Your life will be better off because time will be your own.
