When things started shutting down due to COVID time got super weird.  I was forgetting things, there was no structure to my days or weeks, and my family was feeling the same.

My theory was that if I could improve my efficiency and productivity things might get better.  I realized that while efficiency and productivity are great, my actual goal was to just make time more memorable and meaningful.

In the book, "Make Time" the authors pointed out that there are basically two ways to structure your goals.  The first is to check the boxes.  Accomplish your daily task list, get up the next day, rinse and repeat.  The second is to work toward your BHAG (Big Harry Audacious Goal).  So you are either a robot, checking the boxes every day, or you are a dreamer who doesn't have anything to show for your days until you reach your goal.  Lame.

The authors of "Make Time" propose a third option, which is picking a daily highlight.  It's something to achieve or look forward to each day that frames the day.

So, my first experiment is to implement daily highlights.  My experiment will involve work highlights each weekday and family highlights on the weekends.

My starting point is I have to be better at picking my highlight.  I've been trying it out and the highlights I have been picking are too long for the allotted time.  I guess my true starting point is...nothing.

My goal in this experiment is to do a highlight every day.  I think I can.  I think I can.  I think I can.
