Rev. John Lukomski, retired pastor in Northlake, Minnesota, joins host Rev. AJ Espinosa to study Daniel 4.

Most chapters of the Bible come to us from prophets and apostles. Daniel 4, however, takes the form of a letter from a pagan king! The destroyer of Jerusalem himself, the Babylonian emperor Nebuchadnezzar, offers praise to God for all to hear. He has finally been humbled.

In his letter, he relates another dream experience which ultimately required Daniel’s help. Daniel interpreted the dream as God graciously offering the king yet another chance to repent and be humble, but Nebuchadnezzar continued in pride and self-reliance. God had to literally drive him crazy before Nebuchadnezzar could truly come to his senses. His example shows that even the greatest among us are completely dependent on and helpless before God. More than that, it shows that God is constantly gracious and merciful, even to the most wicked of men.
