The Back Story On This Podcast Episode

Two years ago, I recorded a podcast episode with one of my closest friends AB. During this episode, we talked about how class impacts your experience as a gamer.

Around that time, within certain areas of the black gaming sphere, I would often see snarky remarks about how Black men only played NBA 2K, Madden and Call of Duty. At first, I never put that much thought into the comments. To be honest, I probably laughed at similar jokes that flew down my Twitter timeline.

One night, while mindlessly scrolling through my Twitter feed, I saw another variation of that same joke. This time instead of continuing to scroll or laughing it off, I instantly became annoyed. So what exactly changed between the first time I saw the joke and now? Well, I remembered a lot of my Black gaming peers and I were broke as hell growing up. To keep it all the way funky, we still broke as hell.

Deciding to only play certain video games, whether by choice or force, is not a personality defect. After marinating on the subject, I decided to hit up my friend AB so we could go in depth and this what we had to say.
