I am honored to welcome my guest, Brian Burke, to the podcast today! Brian is President/CEO of Praxis Capital Inc, a vertically integrated real estate private equity investment firm. Brian and his team have acquired over 800 million dollars worth of real estate over a 30-year career including over 4,000 multifamily units and more than 700 single-family homes. He has subdivided land, built homes, and constructed self-storage, but really prefers to reposition existing multifamily properties. Brian is the author of The Hands-Off Investor: An Insider’s Guide to Investing in Passive Real Estate Syndications, and is a frequent public speaker at real estate conferences and events nationwide. Today, Brian digs into how to be a successful passive investor, including how to vet and what things to look for in a potential sponsor. Brian discusses why he is cautious in today's real estate market, with much higher interest rates and the potential for stalling rent growth. He is actually currently more bullish on the Midwest markets than he is the south and southeast markets! I agree!!
