Magic is a core and intrinsic part of fantasy, and maybe even more so in fantasy RPGs. Less advice, and more a starting point for discussion: Kylen talks about the history of magic in Dungeons & Dragons--where it all began, compared to where it is now--and about how the magic in Dungeons & Dragons is, for better or for worse, so inseparably tied to its mechanics that it requests and requires a very certain kind of game and story, unless you're willing to mercilessly cut and forbid your players from choosing certain options.

In fantasy, the bounds of the shared reality are determined by how those bounds can be broken.
