*At 46:19-47:25 in the post-interview, Zahra and Hien discuss Riverdale spoilers

This week we have the pleasure of speaking with Melissa Jay, a registered psychologist and the lead instructor with Canmore Counselling and Trauma-Informed Yoga Psychology School. She starts our episode with a grounding practice and then we talk about what it means to be honest with ourselves about our needs around grief and work. Melissa shares with us some of her back story, including what is offered through her Canmore Counselling practice. She breaks down what her “holistic approach” is and we discuss the ways those buzzwords can be confusing. Melissa shares some wisdom from one of her teachers, Dr. Albert Marshall, called “two-eyed seeing”, which centers on bridging Western Psychology and trauma theory with Indigenous ways of knowing, being, and doing. Zahra and Hien wrap up the episode by gushing about Melissa and talk more about the blending of Indigenous knowledge with Western theory.
