Are you sitting there at home and you are thinking:

“Lord, I don’t know how I am going to manage this.”

“I don’t know what I am going to do when the lockdown is lifted.”

“I don’t know how my business is going to succeed.”

“I don’t know how I am going to get my degree’’.

“I don’t know how……” Stop! Stop! Stop!

The Lord says to you in 1 Thessalonians Chapter 5 and verse 24:

“He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.”

God is going to do it. The Lord is going to do it.

The emphasis is not on us.

The emphasis is on God.

I remember as a little boy, growing up in Central Africa, one hot afternoon, going down to the municipal swimming-pool with my dad.

He was a big, strong blacksmith that came out from Scotland. He had hands like baseball mitts.

And we went into the swimming-pool and I was very small and I stood on the edge of the swimming-pool and he was in the pool and he said, “Come on, Angus! Jump and I will catch you.”

And I said, “Dad, I am scared.”

And he said, “Don’t worry! I will catch you.”

And I took a run and jump, jumped into the pool and that big blacksmith’s hands caught me and I went into the water and I thought I was so clever and so brave.

But you see - it wasn’t actually me, was it?

It was my dad that caught me.

I remember in 2008, The Lord laid on our hearts to hire the biggest tent in the whole world to have a men’s conference.

The tent happened to be stationed in Johannesburg. They had brought it out from Europe for an earth summit and I had exactly R500.

That is about twenty US dollars in our account.

That is all we had.

They wanted a few million for the hire of that tent.

They sent down 17 pantechnicons full of the tent and the tent poles and everything else that goes with it.

It even had it’s own weather station.

It was the most amazing tent I had ever seen in my life.

It spanned four rugby fields.

But you know folks, Jesus paid for it all!

I want to say to you today, there is nothing which is too hard for God.

He is reassuring you this morning that He will do it.

What we say at Shalom - we have a saying here - you must attempt something that is so big that if it is not of God it is doomed to fail.

Why? Because when it succeeds people will say, “You could never have done that,” and God gets all the glory.

So step out the boat, walk on the water and I want to tell you Jesus will catch you.
