For 30 years, Todd was a pastor in the Southern Baptist denomination. He left local church ministry in 2016 after a nervous breakdown fueled by severe anxiety, depression, addiction, and a crisis of belief which led to intense spiritual deconstruction for 3 years. During this time, he became fascinated with the role of the human brain in creating a belief system.
