The conflicting priorities and values of the city’s magistrates come out in the open. How trustworthy is Yogo Osako when it really comes to enforcing the law? Is opium the root of the city’s problems or merely a branch? And how will Bayushi Korechika handle the pressure of his business empire being threatened?

There are a few technical hiccups in this episode, and unfortunately they come in during some pretty serious conversations. The program we use to reduce some of the noise - I know you’re thinking “they make an effort to reduce noise, what about the cats, and typing and coughing?” - cut some of the words short among our softer spoken players. Please bear with and give it a shot, some of these scenes get pretty dramatic.

In the second largest city in the Emerald Empire, there are four new Emerald Magistrates appointed to enforce the Emperor’s laws. On the top of their list of priorities is find out who killed their predecessor. But can they accomplish their goals without being corrupted by a city that is known as the biggest den of sin in Rokugan?
