In 2008, four friends had a crazy idea – they would ride – two on skateboards, and two on bikes with trailers, from Chicago to New York City. They were just 20 years old, and fueled by blind optimism and ignorance of the challenges ahead. Along the way they faced blistering heat, angry dogs, State Police, thunder and rain, and the steep mountains of the Appalachians… Somehow, they lived to tell the tale.

And today on This Amazing Story, one of the four riders, Michael Kosciesza, is here to tell this tale, as well as how they made the 36 day, 1000 mile trip into a feature-length documentary called Shred America that is now available for streaming on all the major platforms.

Both the journey itself and the making of the film tell a story of perseverance and camaraderie, of overcoming obstacles to create something that will inspire you to take on your own epic journey.
