How Virtual Reality is Transforming Healthcare - Valentino Megale

In today’s episode, I chat with Valentino Megale, the Rome-based CEO & Co-Founder of Softcare Studios, a digital health startup developing XR solutions in healthcare and well-being, with a special focus on pain and stress management in patients undergoing invasive medical procedures, and optimization of healthcare interventions.

Selected as the best e-health startup in Europe by the European Commission in 2018, Softcare Studios' track record includes commercial partnerships with leading MedTech and pharma companies like Merck, Roche, Novartis and BD, and collaborations with a growing network of hospitals, medical specialists and research partners such as the Politecnico and CNR in Milano.

Together we discussed the potential for XR to transform healthcare as we know it, the barriers to adoption, from both patients & healthcare professionals, and how virtual reality, in particular, can generate value today & into the future.

Startup founder, currently CEO of Softcare Studios, a digital health startup developing virtual reality solutions for pain and stress management of patients undergoing medical treatments. A scientist by training, with a Ph.D. in Neuropharmacology.

He is also an advisor on the topics of digital safety and privacy in the metaverse (with a special focus on child safety and medical XR) as a member of the Extended Reality Safety Initiative (XRSI) non-profit organization. Startup mentor, lecturer and author on the topics of emerging tech, healthcare, and social impact.
