One of the noteworthy things about this year’s TechCrunch Disrupt SF, the big annual conference for tech start-ups, was the degree to which many companies cited Amazon as a role model, as opposed to firms such as Uber and Facebook, which dominated in previous years. It probably doesn’t hurt that Amazon became just the second U.S. company to ever cross the $1 trillion market cap mark this past week. TheStreet’s Annie Gaus attended Disrupt all week, and discusses what else she observed, including China’s rise and debate over where the next Silicon Valley will be (hint: it might not be in the US).
