Nickel City Crew | Let's Get Defensive

In this episode, Rob & Dump Truck break down everything defense from the trenches, to the boundaries and all the way to the backend of the '23 Bills D. But it all starts with Rob's favorite person to discuss, our "new" defensive coordinator Sean McDermott.

What should we expect from the defense now that McD will be calling the plays? Wait, wasn't he always calling them? Well, for :13 at least, right? Who knows but the consensus seems to be that McD will be more aggressive with the scheme of the D. Is that believable?

Leslie Frazier was known for his "bend but don't break" defensive coaching style. Will the '23 Bills mirror that philosophy or are we in for an entirely new defensive scheme?

The d-line room has some depth and DT is all here for it. From the interior to the edge rushers, Beane has provided McD with plenty of ammo for his return back to playcalling. Mr. Basham & Mr. Epenesa, please report to the Principal's Office.

The "Mike" LB camp battle seems to be heating up at St. John Fisher. But if you have three capable MLB's, does that mean you really don't even have one?

What the heck is going on with Kaiir Elam? Like seriously, it's getting kind of weird. Can all of his recent struggles just be related to him playing more zone than he did in college at UF or is there more to it? Will it be Elam, Jackson or Benford standing at the end of camp? Here is to hoping Tre White gets back to All-Pro form because we sure could use that version of him in '23. 

Finally, the fellas wrap up by giving flowers to our All-Pro safety tandem in what could be the last year we see them together in this form. Salute to two of the finest defensive backs Buffalo has ever had. It's really been 7yrs of Hyde & Poyer?!?!?! That's crazy how time flies.
