Adapted from H.G. Wells' novel and directed by Corey Bradberry, A WAR OF THE WORLDS is audio theatre performed entirely without visuals; combining the human voice, recorded sound, live Foley effects, and original musical to tell the story.

"No one would have believed in the first years of the 21st century that this world was being watched keenly and closely by intelligences greater than our own... " H.G. Wells enters the 21st century as a Chicagoland science journalist thrust into the events of an alien invasion after a meteor from the 'Red Planet' Mars crashes outside the suburbs of Chicago.

The CHICAGO READER’s Kerry Reid called the production a “stylish and compelling adaptation.” AROUND THE TOWN’s Julia W. Rath said Ben Zucker’s “extraordinary and distinctive sound design and music add to the overall feeling of dread.” WCGO and WDCB Radio both HIGHLY RECOMMENDED the production. RESCRIPTED called it “cosmic and intimate.”

Created by one of Chicago's most innovative theatre groups, this show was originally presented and performed live across the internet and broadcast in real time to audiences across North America and beyond. Now A Theater in the Dark invites you to turn off your screen and let your imagination run wild as you come with us into the dark…
