The Dumb Waiter (Chapel Off Chapel, Melbourne, Australia)
Starring One of Australia’s favourite actors and Gold Logie Award Winner, John Wood as Ben and Don Bridges in the role of Gus.
In a dank and dark basement room, Gus and Ben wait for their next hit job. They’ve been working together for quite some time and have their routine down to an efficient art-form. But there’s something different about this job. As increasingly bizarre orders begin to be sent down via the basement’s dumbwaiter and the tension between the two men builds, it becomes clear that things are not as they appear.
One of Harold Pinter’s most famous works, The Dumb Waiter is a darkly funny and terrifically suspenseful play that reveals Pinter’s skill for crafting unique and engaging theatre. Taut and tense, The Dumb Waiter continues to offer new insights into human nature and the way in which the individual is complicit in society’s darker impulses.
Directed by Greenroom Nominee, Paul Watson
