My brother and I watch the 1997 film, Kull the Conqueror and discuss the film and the Robert E Howard stories that inspired it.

The Thirteenth Hour Podcast #457: Welcome My Brother, Jeremy, as we talk about Kull the Conqueror (1997)

https://archive.org/download/podcast-457/Podcast%20457.mp3

This week, my brother and I are watching the 1997 film, Kull the Conqueror, very loosely based on the original stories of Kull and Conan by Robert E Howard.  The film is partly based on aspects of the Kull short story – “By This Axe I Rule!” (i.e. the part of the film where Kull takes his battleaxe and smashes the stone tablets of the kingdom rules) and the Conan story “The Hour of the Dragon.”

King Kull, whose stories were used for the first Conan movie and numerous comic books, actually comes back as a ghost in a Robert E. Howard short story “Kings of the Night” to assist another Howard hero, Bran Mak Morn.

Bottom line, read the Kull stories for a different take on the character than the one portrayed in the film.  Click on the picture above painted by Lou Feck for more info.
