This episode is the first of a two-part conversation with Daren Jones and Troy McPeak. Daren is the Associate Director of Outreach at the KPICD, and Troy is the Associate Director of the Texas Model with the Texas Juvenile Justice Department.

A few months ago Daren and Troy sat down to talk about their TBRI journeys.  If you’ve joined us for other episodes, you may have picked up on the theme that for many of us there’s a “before TBRI” and an “after TBRI moment” in our lives. Over the years we’ve had conversations around this theme with caregivers, parents, and TBRI Practitioners, and we’re excited to bring some of those discussions to the podcast.

Today is the first of what we hope will be many “front porch” conversations about trust-based relationships. Daren and Troy talk about how they were both “voluntold” to attend TBRI Training through the Institute, and how that experience has shaped the way they see the world, their work with vulnerable children and youth, and also how they reflect on their own histories.
