The lower federal courts in Alabama ruled in favor of drawing a new congressional map to more fairly represent Alabama’s Black population. On February 7th, the Supreme Court voted 5 to 4 to provisionally allow the current district map to stand. The lower courts may appeal the decision, but Alabamians would not expect a ruling before the 2022 elections.
