After seven months in our own homes -- is it really seven months? Less? More? Who knows? -- we’re ready to peel off the plastered smiles on our faces and get real about how it’s going. With just a few days left before the 2020 election, it seems like all of the chickens of our entire lives are coming home to roost. Chickens may be the wrong animal metaphor, because first we’ve got to talk about cats. Jenny’s been attempting to do a little self-care through indoor gardening, and her cats have been determined to take her project down. That’s just one of many reasons why we think self-care may be a crock. Right now, self-care just feels like another item on our long to-do lists, an item that we’re consistently getting wrong. How much can rest and relaxation do when we’re confronting hard, home truths about hunger, racism, and inequality in America? How much should self-care help when children in our community are hungry. We’re bleeping mad, and we hope you’re here for it.
