About Loren:
Loren Escandón, an award-winning Afro-Latina actress and filmmaker, has made a significant impact in both the world of acting and directing. Hailing from Cali, Colombia, Loren's artistic journey began with ballet, igniting her passion for storytelling and acting. After completing her degree in Theater at the Universidad del Valle, she embarked on a journey to the United States to pursue her dreams. In a short span of time, Loren has left an indelible mark with her compelling performances, appearing in prominent series such as CW's The Messengers, Fox's 9-1-1, Netflix's Gentefied, CBS's S.W.A.T, ABC Studio's For the People, Netflix's Selena: The Series, Apple TV+'s Truth Be Told, and Freevee’s Casa Grande to name a few. She will next be seen in in Prime Video’s highly anticipated series, The Baxters, based on the Baxter Family literary franchise from New York Times best-selling author Karen Kingsbury. Extending her talents to film, Loren has best been credited for her role as Marisol in Netflix’s hit 2022 summer film, Purple Hearts, but most recently appeared in Netflix’s recent film, Shirley.
Furthermore, Loren's directorial prowess has gained recognition in the film industry. She made her directorial debut with the acclaimed short film anthology, Phone Tales, which received invitations to multiple festivals in 2018. Her latest directorial work, Los Patines, has garnered numerous awards, including Best Short at the San Pedro International Film Festival, and accolades for Best Latino Short and Director at the NYC Downtown Short Film Festival. Most recently, Loren joined the ranks amongst 16 female filmmakers who told 16 very raw stories in latest anthology series,Give Me An A, focused on the overturn of Roe v Wade. Loren’s passion for storytelling shines through her exceptional work as both an actress and director. With her talent, dedication, and commitment to her craft, she continues to make a lasting impact in the entertainment industry, leaving audiences eagerly anticipating her future projects.
