Fikile Mthwalo talks her new film "About Fate", launching her career in South Africa, and a very awkward self tape!
About Fikile:
Fikile Mthwalo is a Lesotho born actor who is best known for playing the role of “Zak” on the long standing South African show, Isidingo. She went on to become a series regular on E-TV’s “Gold Diggers”, and starred in two seasons of Mzansi Magic’s series “It’s Complicated”.
Acting is Fikile’s calling, but she continues to develop creative works of her own such as “Bae”, a TV series about an African woman’s attempts to avoid deportation after her green card application file is lost by US immigration services.
Fikile is also the founder of Glubbs, an eco-friendly disposable gloves brand. Glubbs was a recipient of an American Express grant and mentorship prize as part of their Founders of Change initiative to provide financial and educational backing for 100 black female business owners.
Fikile graduated from the University of Cape Town with a Bachelors in Film and Video Production. She also holds an Acting MFA from NYU’s Tisch School of The Arts. Fikile calls South Africa home and spends most of her time between New York and Los Angeles.
