Ok, technically this isn't quite a 'movie', but on this week's bonus, Hussein and Devon discuss a short Youtube documentary about the fall of Boogie2988, one of the first Youtubers to make a real, full-time income on the platform by playing video games and doing pranks and skits.
We talk about the dire state of Boogie's finances – caused by a combination of the horrible US health system, and his own penchant for Magic: The Gathering cards – and how a life spent on Youtube has meant that he is no longer willing to relate to anyone in the real world.
We discuss how Boogie's trajectory has mirrored that of other Youtubers, who find themselves struggling to revive their careers in the era of short-form video, but also has remained stagnant, as his other contemporaries successfully pivoted to branding and merchandising. Oh, and we obviously talk about how Boogie's career decline is pretty much the result of him insisting that he is allowed to say The Word.

PALESTINE AID LINKS

please do make your voice heard in other ways about this. Showing up at protest marches and writing letters to elected MPs are useful acts of solidarity. Please encourage your elected representatives to support calls for a ceasefire, while still bearing in mind a ceasefire represents the bare minimum.
