Sergey Gorbunov is the co-founder of Axelar Network. With the rise of alternate L1s, the crypto landscape and DeFi assets are more fragmented. Axelar's stack provides a decentralized network, protocols, tools, and APIs that allow for simple cross-chain communication.
Sergey received his PhD from MIT in Computer Science. Way back in 2013, he was a crypto researcher for IBM before going on to join the founding team at Algorand. In addition to co-founding Axelar, he is an assistant professor at the University of Waterloo.
We dive into why interoperability is a buzzword, how the current bridging ecosystem could be a black swan for crypto, the shortcomings of interoperable blockchains that only do a few things and how Axelar could be the "Border Gateway Protocol" moment for Crypto.
